A MAN has been seriously injured after falling from a seafront promenade following an altercation.
Police were informed by the ambulance service of a man in cardiac arrest by Brighton Palace Pier at about 9.25pm on Thursday, August 11.
Witness accounts state that the man had been involved in an altercation prior to falling from the promenade.
Two other men were identified at the scene by police and arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
“Initial enquiries revealed that the man had fallen from railings down to the promenade below,” a police spokesman said.
“He was stabilised by paramedics and taken to hospital, were he remains in a serious condition.”
The man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.
A large number of police officers and vehicles were spotted near Brighton Palace Pier following the incident.
The two men who were arrested have since been released under investigation.
