A CO-OP store was burgled last night by three men and has remained closed all day.
An alarm went off at around 11.15pm at the Co-op in Heathfield High Street, Heathfield, near Uckfield on Sunday night.
Police saw three men running from the shop who had opened the tills.
Officers remained at the shop until at least 1am and the shop will not re-open until tomorrow due to damage inside the building.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Police were called to an alarm activation at the Co-op convenience store on High Street, Heathfield, at about 11.15pm on Sunday, August 7.
“Upon arrival, three men were seen running from the scene, entry had been forced and the tills searched.
“Officers remained at the scene whilst initial enquiries took place, including gathering of CCTV footage.
“Anyone with relevant information can report online, or call 101, quoting serial 1439 of 07/08.”
