A HOMELESSNESS charity is looking for a new head following the retirement of its longstanding chief executive.
Andy Winter is set to retire in January 2023 after 37 years with BHT Sussex.
Mr Winter, who writes a weekly column in The Argus, said the 37 years he has spent with the charity have been a “joy and a privilege”.
“I have been so fortunate to have had such able and inspiring colleagues at all levels of the organisation,” he said.
Now, the charity is looking for a “successful leader, ideally from an organisation of comparable complexity and scale” and with experience of working in social housing, charities, the public sector or in mental health services.
The chairman of the board of trustees Kelvin MacDonald said: “This is a very exciting opportunity to lead and grow one of Sussex’s leading charities and housing organisations.
“We are looking for someone to build on the platform being left by Andy, taking the organisation to new heights and to positively meet the challenges we will face over the next few years and beyond.
“We are proud of our history and our long-standing social contribution. We provide advice, support and housing for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities in Brighton and Hove and across Sussex.
“BHT Sussex is a people-orientated organisation. We are passionate about providing the highest quality, value for money services and supporting the changing needs of our clients and tenants along their journey to wellbeing.
“We aim at being a great employer and a respected partner in our region.
“Whoever we appoint will be responsible for a charity and registered housing provider with a turnover of £17.5 million with more than 320 staff.
“The person will provide the overall strategic direction and management of our advice, support and housing services, aligned to our mission and values.
“They will provide inspiration and leadership to a committed and friendly team to achieve key outcomes for our clients, tenants, partners and stakeholders.
“They will also be expected to promote BHT Sussex and enhance our reputation.”
