PEOPLE have been urged to avoid an area following a fire at a flat.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue were called to the flat in Church Road, Hove, at 5.25am this morning, Friday, August 5.
Both police and ambulance services were also called to the scene.
Seven pumps were used to extinguish the blaze.
Fire crews are now carrying out a salvage operation at the property.
A spokesman for ESFR said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are carrying out a salvage operation following a fire at a flat in Hove.
“We were called at 05.25 this morning 05 August 2022 following reports of smoke coming from a property on Church Road.
“Everyone has been accounted for. Police and ambulance were alerted.
“We would ask that you continue to avoid the area for the time being.”
