A BIG tent and the main stage for this year’s Pride celebrations have been gone up ahead of festivities taking place over the weekend.
Organisers have made significant progress in preparing Preston Park for the thousands of revellers expected for this year’s We Are Fabuloso festival to mark the return of Brighton and Hove Pride.
Cranes, lorries and other vehicles have been seen at the site as the stage is built.
The circus-style tent will feature a range of musicians performing this weekend, with award-winning singer-songwriter Christina Aguilera among those taking to the main stage as the headliner.
A tall and long metal fence has been erected across the park to provide security to festivalgoers and prevent those without tickets from gaining access.
Several refreshment tents are also already in place around the park, ahead of the festival opening to visitors on Saturday.
The last Pride in the Park event in 2019 featured a Bame stage, a “diva dance tent” and several funfair rides.
This year’s festivities are the first to take place after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic and will mark the 30th anniversary of Pride in Brighton and Hove.
Todrick Hall, Paloma Faith, Ella Henderson and stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Bimini and Tia Kofi are among the other acts set to appear.
The community parade through Brighton and Hove, village party in Kemp Town and the traditional dog show will also be taking place over the weekend as part of the celebrations.
