A 12-METRE yacht had to be rescued by the RNLI after suffering engine failure.
Eastbourne’s all weather lifeboat was tasked with locating and helping the yacht and the two people on board.
The vessel had suffered engine failure while on passage from Boulogne in France to Eastbourne.
“Due to the increasing wind and the state of the tide, the decision was made to tow the vessel by lifeboat into the safety of Sovereign Harbour,” an RNLI spokesman said.
The rescue took place at 5.40pm on Thursday, July 28.
Earlier this week, a dog had to be rescued by the Eastbourne RNLI and coastguard after falling nearly 400ft from a cliff.
A lifeboat helped find and recover the dog and its owner, who had become trapped on the cliff
“This was a very unfortunate accident, and we would urge people to be aware of the dangers whilst walking along the coastline with dogs.
“Always dial 999 and ask for the coastguard in situations like this.”
