FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle two grassfires that erupted last night.
Smoke could be seen billowing from the blaze near Littlehampton Marina yesterday evening (July 28) as fire crews dealt with the incident.
Meanwhile, in Seaford, fire engines and other vehicles were spotted as they tried to tackle another blaze, with firefighters seen unrolling hoses in order to extinguish the fire.
Fire services on both sides of the county have warned that, despite the extreme temperatures of the heatwave coming to an end, grassland still remains very dry and the threat of severe wildfires remains.
Both West Sussex Fire and Rescue and East Sussex Fire and Rescue have been approached for comment.
