AN airport has issued a warning to holiday-goers ahead of rail strikes this week.
Gatwick Airport is asking people to seek alternative methods of travel when arriving and departing the airport.
It comes ahead of planned industrial action on Wednesday, July 27 by the RMT Union, with GTR services including Gatwick Express affected.
A spokesman for Gatwick said: “We strongly advise you to avoid using public transport to get to and from the airport - and arrange private transport if at all possible. Allow extra time for your journey.
“Only a limited number of trains will run from Gatwick Airport - to London and towards Brighton - between 7am and 5.30pm on these days, with no service at all outside of these hours.
“Further disruption is also likely on July 28, 2022, as the network cannot open until after 7am the next day.”
Alternative methods of transport will be busier than usual, but include:
- Car
Pre-book your airport parking in advance as our car parks will be very busy. We have increased the number of car parking spaces available.
If you are planning to use an off-airport meet and greet service, you should check that they have a good reputation on Trustpilot, Trip Advisor or any other reliable means.
- Taxi
Gatwick Cars Ltd is our official taxi provider and can be found outside both the North and South Terminals.
- Bus and coach
Metrobus offers local bus services, National Express and The Airline by the Oxford Bus Company offer coach services from both North and South Terminals.
- Car Hire
A range of car rental companies operate from both North and South Terminals.
