POLICE are appealing for a mother and son who were racially abused on a bus to come forward.
A man, in his thirties, made “racist comments” to the pair. He also tried to link arms with the boy and hit him on the head with a bottle before being asked to leave by the bus driver.
It is not known whether the child was injured.
It happened on a Stagecoach bus at Cade Street in Eastbourne at around 7.15pm on Friday night, July 15.
PC Claire Middleton said: "It is important that we help anyone who has been affected by someone else's prejudice, ignorance or violence, and we will follow up all information received."
The man is white, with dark short hair and a dark stubbly short beard.
He was wearing black cap, a black T-shirt with a Puma logo and white shorts.
The boy is between 11 to 14 and had a scooter with him.
Sussex Police are asking anyone with information to get in touch either online or by calling 101, quoting serial 1602 of 15/07, and arrange to talk to their investigators in confidence.
