Residents and businesses are being urged to have their say on the potential redevelopment of a key site.
An application was originally made last August by developer Shoreham Brighton Road Limited to turn the Frosts Cars site on Brighton Road, Shoreham, into a mix of 183 one and two-bedroom apartments and business space.
The plans have been amended with a new design of the ground-floor level, as well as an agreement for 30 per cent affordable housing and Adur District Council now wants to hear views from as many people as possible on the scheme.
In view of the public interest, it has spoken to the developers, who have agreed to extend the public consultation and increase the number of public open days, with the community able to have their say until September 12.
Councillor Steve Neocleous, lead member for regeneration, said: “I am pleased that the scheme now includes affordable housing and the developers are willing to work with the council to actively engage with local residents through this extended consultation period.
“There is a shortage of housing, but any new developments need to be on a reasonable scale and the infrastructure must be improved to cope with additional traffic and pressure on local services. Residents have legitimate concerns about these proposed projects so we have worked with the developer to make sure people can still have their say in September.
“I urge everyone to look at the plans at the Shoreham Centre and to tell us what they think.”
The plans are on display at the Shoreham Centre foyer Mondays to Thursdays from 9pm till 8pm and on Fridays from 9am to 6pm.
Shoreham Brighton Road Ltd and its representatives intend to have representatives at the Shoreham Centre between 4pm and 8pm on Thursday, August 4, Wednesday, August 31, and Thursday, September 8, to answer any questions on the scheme.
The council is writing to anyone who has previously made comments on the scheme.

But it also wants to hear the views of the wider community, including residents’ groups, before making a final decision on the application.
