ENGLAND’S Lionesses will face off against Spain at the Amex next week for the Euro 2022 quarter-finals.
Spain secured their spot in the next stage in the tournament after edging out Denmark 1-0 in their final Group B match yesterday.
The two teams, both among the favourites to win Euro 2022, will meet at the Brighton stadium on Wednesday.
Spain boss Jorge Vilda said that the match could be the toughest test of the tournament.
He said: “I think the quarterfinal against England could be the toughest game in the Euros given the level England are playing at.
“They are the host nation and they have the fans behind them, but that motivates us, we are a team that likes a challenge.”
England will be hoping to maintain their clean sheet, after winning all three of their group matches against Austria, Norway and Northern Ireland.
After their 5-0 defeat to England earlier this week, Northern Ireland boss Kenny Shiels said: “It would be a massive failure if they (England) didn’t win this tournament. Everybody else should just go home.”
Almost 29,000 people packed out the Amex Stadium last week to see England demolish Norway 8-0, with cries of “football’s coming home” from fans.
