A DJ has launched a fundraiser for a memorial after his brother was found dead on a beach.
Tim Wall, 54, from Lancing, drowned off Shoreham Beach in the early afternoon of October 30, 2020.
Now, his younger brother Mike Wall, a DJ and producer known as Wax Worx, is fundraising for a memorial bench in his honour.
Mike, 45, said: “Tim was always wanting to have a good time, but he also always went above and beyond to make sure everyone else was having just as good a time as him.”
Tim was ten years older and became his father figure when they lost their dad in 1994.
That year they travelled the world together, starting in New Zealand and Australia, later working together in holiday resorts in Andorra and Majorca, Tim as a holiday rep and Mike as a DJ.
When they returned to the UK they were both residential social workers, and later worked together for Asphaleia, an organisation for young people. Mike was a youth mentor and Tim a support worker with unaccompanied child asylum seekers.
Tim later did more travelling, working again as a rep in Greece and Austria, years that he would later describe as the best of his life.
When he returned to the UK he worked for West Sussex County Council as a leaving care support worker with vulnerable young adults.
Mike, who lives in Henfield, said: “Tim was loved by his family, very well known and loved in the local area.
“He was adored by the young people he supported and worked with, many of them looking to him as a surrogate father.”
Mike thinks many people have not been able to grieve properly for Tim, so would like a memorial bench for him at Adur Recreation ground in Shoreham.
This was where he often walked his dog, Charlie, and he called it his "safe place".
Mike said: “Tim would have wanted this, and he would have also wanted this to be a place, for men especially, to be able to come, meet a friend and talk openly about their problems.”
The bench will cost about £1,300, and Mike is looking to raise £1,000. People can donate to the fundraiser at https://www.facebook.com/donate/750028283102207/750028846435484/ or contact Mike at waxworxmusic@outlook.com.
