A DRIVER escaped injury in a serious crash on a country lane.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident in Hassocks in the early hours of Friday, July 15.
Sussex Roads Police said officers received a report of a car crash in which the vehicle had set on fire.
After a prompt response from Burgess Hill Fire and Rescue Service, the fire was extinguished.
“Thankfully there were no injuries to the only occupant,” a Sussex Roads Police spokesman said. “Negative impairment tests for driver.”
Photographs from the scene show a severely damaged car at the side of the road.
A number of emergency service vehicles and personnel can also be seen.
The exact circumstances of the crash are not yet known.
