POLICE have issued an update after a car towing a stack of wood overturned yesterday.
The incident happened around 2.30pm on the A27 westbound near the Patcham turn off.
Sussex Police have now confirmed the driver suffered “no injuries” in the crash.
The car can be seen on its side, while the trailer ended up in front of it completely overturned.
The A27 was partially closed at first before police fully closed it to allow recovery to take place.
Queues stretched all the way back to Falmer by the Lewes Road turn off.
One passerby told The Argus how drivers were waiting in miles of queues out of their cars, some with their dogs out in the 24C heat.
He said: "They had the car on the back of a recovery truck when I went past but the trailer was full of wood was still facing the wrong way.
"Loads of people had their doors open and had got out of their cars.
"It was so hot people were having to get their dogs out."
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Just after 2.30pm on Saturday, June 9, police received a report that a vehicle had overturned on the A27 westbound near Hollingbury.
“The road was closed for a short time while the vehicle was recovered. No injuries.”
