A PROLIFIC sex offender abused young boys after selling their parents door-to-door life insurance, a court heard.
Michael James Green, 78, was jailed in 2014 and again in 2018 for more than 20 offences against boys as young as nine.
Green denied another 12 counts of buggery and indecent assaults, when he appeared in front of a jury at Chichester Crown Court.
The new offences against four more boys took place between 1973 and 1993.
Jennifer Gray for the prosecution told the jury on June 27 that many of the indecency offences would be charged as rape.
Green met two of the boys when he worked as a door-to-door insurance salesman in Brighton.
One boy, who thought of Green as a family friend, was abused in his own home.
Green gained access to another boy through coaching an ice hockey team in Brighton, while the court heard he took another boy to popular beauty spot Devil’s Dyke where he abused him.
Green forced the boys to perform sex acts and raped one of them, it is alleged.
“The crown do not have to prove he was not consenting.
“He was too young by law,” Ms Gray said.
The new allegations were made before press coverage of Green’s first conviction in 2014, Mr Gray said.
Green went on to be a sports coach at a boarding school in West Sussex where he abused boys in the cricket team, the jury was told.
He groomed and assaulted two more pupils, the court heard.
“He gained access to them via his job as a sports coach at the Windlesham House boarding school,” Ms Gray said.
One was a full-time boarder groomed by Green and another was grabbed as he walked down a corridor, the court heard.
“The crown say he has abused many other boys as well as the ones you are going to hear about.
“He denied having done so and had a trial in front of a jury just like you,” Ms Gray told the jury.
Green denies one count of buggery and 11 more indecent assaults.
The trial continues.
