TRAIN stations across the country have been left deserted today as industrial strike action begins.
The planned three-day strikes have seen thousands of RMT union members walk out over pay, working conditions, and job cuts.
It is the largest rail strike in 30 years, with only a fifth of services across the country operating today.
Worthing station would usually see huge footfall throughout the day as passengers embark on commutes and leisure travel - but today it was closed due to the action.
Pictures show it was left eerily quiet and completely deserted as passengers were forced to work from home or find alternative methods of travel.
Further stations across Sussex were also left deserted.
The strikes are expected to cause huge disruption to the UK this week.
Action is taking place today, Thursday, June 23, and Saturday, June 25. Disruption is expected tomorrow, Friday and Sunday as well.
