A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm after a car "drove along the pavement" outside a pub.
The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday morning at around 1.30am outside the Crown Inn pub in Ferry Road, Rye.
The Argus has been told by an eyewitness that the driver had been in a different pub before his blue Nissan Note was seen “driving along the pavement”.
A 55-year-old who was arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed pending further police enquiries.
Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with video footage to come forward following the incident which took place on June 19.
Investigator Bernadette Peters said: “We know that there were a number of people in the area at the time near the Crown Inn pub, and want to encourage them to come forward with information about what they saw or what happened.”
