A BOY was left with cuts to his head after an “unprovoked attack” with a blade.
The incident happened around 11.15am on Thursday, June 16 in Basin Road, Chichester.
The 13-year-old boy was sat on a wall, near Chichester Police Station, before he was struck with a blade which was believed to be wrapped in tape.
The boy ran off and went to school where his injuries were treated. His parents were called and the attack was then reported to police.
A boy has been arrested and released on bail until Monday, July 11.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses following an unprovoked attack in Chichester at around 11.15am on Thursday, June 16, that left a 13-year-old boy with cuts to his head.
“The boy was sat on a wall in Basin Road, near Chichester Police Station, when another boy struck him with a blade, believed to be wrapped in tape. He then ran off in a westerly direction.
“The victim then went to school, where his injuries were treated, his parents were called, and the attack was later reported to police.
“Anyone who may have seen the attack, or has any other information, is urged to contact police online, or call 101, quoting serial 673 of 16/06.”
