HARRY Styles is caught in a complex love triangle in the newly released trailer for the romantic drama My Policeman.
Set in Brighton in the 1950s, the film sees the former One Direction singer play the role of Tom Burgess, a policeman who is secretly gay at a time when homosexuality was illegal.
The trailer for My Policeman, based on Bethan Roberts’ 2012 novel of the same name, begins with Harry analysing a painting with David Dawson, who plays museum curator Patrick, with whom Tom embarks on a passionate affair.
Dawson asks: “How does it make you feel?”
Harry responds: “You can sense the waves, you know how strong they are. Like swimming in rough surf.”
Dawson adds: “You feel they could crush you. Or take you under. You just have to let it take hold of you.”
The teaser switches from darkened scenes of the two men to Harry sharing a passionate kiss with his on-screen wife Marion, played by Emma Corrin, on their wedding day and enjoying a day out at Brighton Palace Pier together.
Emma won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Diana, Princess of Wales in Netflix’s The Crown.
Filming for the movie, produced by Amazon Studios, took place last year across Brighton and Hove.
Shoots took place at locations including the Royal Pavilion, Brighton Palace Pier, Saltdean, Peacehaven and Newhaven.
The Amazon Prime film is set in 1950s Britain with flashes forward to the 90s, and stars Gina McKee, Linus Roache and Rupert Everett as older versions of the main characters.
Michael Grandage directed the film, which was also partly shot in Venice, from an adapted screenplay by Oscar winner Ron Nyswaner, who wrote 1993 legal drama Philadelphia.
My Policeman will be released in UK cinemas on October 21 and globally on Prime Video on November 4.
