A MAN who inherited a sum of money from his mother has pleaded guilty to failing to notify Brighton and Hove City Council of a change in circumstances.
Jonathan Mark Caine pleaded guilty to dishonestly failing to notify the council of the change in circumstances which he knew would affect his entitlement to housing benefit between November 25, 2013 and January 28, 2018.
The 53-year-old also pleaded guilty to dishonestly failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions after he inherited the money, which he knew would affect his entitlement to Employment Support Allowance.
This offence relates to a period between November 19, 2013, and January 22, 2018, and is contrary to the same legislation.
Brighton magistrates adjourned the case and remanded Caine, of Basin End, Nantwich, on unconditional bail to appear at Cheshire magistrates’ court on July 12 to allow for the preparation of a pre-sentence probation report.
