AN AMERICAN fried chicken brand is to open its first restaurant in the city Popeyes has announced it will open a new branch in Brighton as part of its latest expansion.
The brand says it hopes to create more than 600 jobs across six cities, with restaurants to be launched in Nottingham, Gateshead, Oxford, Reading and Ealing, as well as Brighton.
Over the next decade, thousands more jobs could be produced as Popeyes makes it home in shopping centres, at drive-thrus and on high streets.
The New Orleans-founded brand already has a restaurant site in Stratford, which opened in November 2021, which it claims is its highest-performing restaurant globally.
Tom Crowley, chief executive officer at Popeyes UK, said: “Accelerating our UK growth strategy in this way enables us to provide a much-needed jobs boost to the hospitality economy across both construction and hospitality roles. Across these six sites, we’re expecting to provide 600 employment opportunities, and we’re already eyeing our next raft of locations with announcements due imminently.”
Popeyes has not confirmed the location of its new Brighton restaurant and an opening date is also set to be announced at a later date.
