A MAN has been arrested after a bomb squad was called over a “suspicious package”.
Police were called to an address in Tarring Road, Worthing, at about 9am on Wednesday, June 8.
At the property, officers were concerned about a suspicious package that was found.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team were called to the scene and safely destroyed the package.
A 52-year-old man has been subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
He remains in custody at this time.
The road in the area was closed as a precaution and reopened at about 10.10pm on Wednesday.
“Officers have thanked residents for their patience during this incident and can expect to see an increased police presence while enquiries continue,” a Sussex Police spokesman said.
Photographs taken at the scene show members of the bomb squad attending the incident.
