TWO teenage boys have been arrested at a train station on suspicion of assault.

Police were called to Barnham railway station following reports of a disturbance involving a group of youths.

With the support of the British Transport Police, officers located the group nearby.

A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault.

“The youths arrested cannot be named for legal reasons, and we’d like to remind the public not to speculate or publish any information which could potentially jeopardise the investigation,” a police spokesman said.

“We will continue to support British Transport Police with patrols in the Barnham and Angmering area.”

Last month, police increased patrols near the two train stations amid ongoing antisocial behaviour.

Officers from Arun Police stepped up their presence in an attempt to combat the issue.

“We’ve increased our patrols in Barnham and Angmering, and around the train stations following reports of antisocial behaviour,” a police spokesman said.

“We have also contacted our colleagues at British Transport Police to ensure they are aware.

“Some of our team conducted mobile and foot patrols to try and identify those responsible. Happy to report that all was in order. Patrols will continue over the coming days.
