A CHURCH is marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a special service of thanksgiving for Her Majesty’s reign.
Solemn Evensong will be sung by the choir at St Nicholas’ Church in Church Street, Brighton, with the Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex expected to attend the service.
Father Dominic Keech said: “The Platinum Jubilee is a really significant moment in our country’s history, as we mark Her Majesty’s seven-decade reign.
“After the difficulties of the last few years, this weekend should be a really happy occasion and a chance for us all to come together in celebration, as we acknowledge the singular service of our Queen to her people.
“It comes with an opportunity to reflect on the virtues of steadfastness, commitment and faith, which the monarch has embodied over so many years.”
Bell-ringers at the church will also ring a Quarter Peal in honour of the jubilee on Sunday from 5-6pm.
The service will include a sermon given by the Archdeacon of Brighton and Lewes, as well as choral music - including canticles by Wilby.
