A NOTE to say thank you to all The Argus readers for your kind words and support in the letters page about the mayoralty. Also thank you to Cllr Peter Atkinson, Argus columnist Andy Winter and Jean Calder.

I would also like to thank my residents in Hangleton and Knoll who've been coming up to me in the street with their words of support and to say what they think about the situation. There was even a bunch of flowers delivered to my house.

I want everyone to know that I am fine and all this has just made me more determined for next year's election and I am out working with Cllr Lewry and Tim Hodges for our residents.

I will say that not one of those from Labour and the Greens who didn't want me as mayor has spoken to me about it. I find it very cowardly that they are not prepared to talk to me face to face at the council or even on the phone. It is also disrespectful that they didn't speak to anyone in the mayor's office and they wasted weeks of their time.

I think many people in this city are fed up with this coalition where Labour just do what the Greens want and do not have respect for anyone else.

Finally, I hope everyone has a happy jubilee weekend. In Hangleton and Knoll we have organised a jubilee party for the elderly on Thursday at St Richard's Church. The event will run from 1.30pm until 4pm with over 50 people attending. There will food, drink, music, entertainment and singing and a toast to the Queen on her service. Get in touch if you would like to join us.

Cllr Dawn Barnett
