I have just driven from Newhaven towards Brighton and the queue of nose to tail traffic went back through Peacehaven. It was 2/3 miles.
Three points:
The first one. The reason given is some of the 8 pedestrian crossing lights are malfunctioning so why is not East Sussex Road department dealing with the matter because they weren't. I suggest the reason is this area doesn’t matter to the powers that be.
The Second is a more long term serious matter. It is over-development. In that short journey there is one very large housing estate being built. There is also a similar size one awaiting to be started plus other “ Knock them down and build flats “ projects.
The third, the high price of petrol and diesel: almost £2 / gallon. I can still remember when it was £1 for 4 gallons. is not deterring the motorist. I would wager the government and the petroleum companies are noticing so expect prices to rise very soon.
When you speak to people about all the housing development that is going on they are against it, but say what can we do?
Well local politicians what are you going to do. The clock is ticking and soon it will be too late to save our one green and pleasant land.
