A MAN has been charged with the possession of heroin.
James Barnes was arrested after plain-clothed police officers on patrol witnessed a suspected drug deal take place in King Edwards Parade, Eastbourne, in October 2021.
The 37-year-old was released under investigation while enquiries continued.
On Thursday, May 26, Barnes was charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug (heroin) and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug.
Barnes, of no fixed address, appeared before Brighton Magistrates' Court on Friday, May 27, and has been remanded in custody.
Chief Inspector Di Lewis, district commander for Eastbourne, said: “Harmful and dangerous drugs have no place in our community, and we will work hard to disrupt and prevent any activity around the supply and distribution of illegal substances.
“Anyone with information about drug-related activity is urged to report it to us online, by calling 101 or anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Always dial 999 in an emergency.”
