HUNDREDS of people gathered on bikes, rollerskates and scooters to welcome the return of a cycling drum and bass DJ.

Dom Whiting, known as the ‘DJ on a bike’, performed a set while cycling across Brighton and was followed by a huge crowd of around 400 cyclists enjoying the music.

Dom, from High Wycombe, bought a custom-made three-wheeled bike during the first lockdown and gained popularity on social media for his unique DJ sets around towns and cities in the UK and across Europe.

His Brighton gig, his first return to the city since May 2021, saw him use a record number of speakers to blast music to cyclists following behind, with 15 speakers scattered among the crowd - some worn on the backs of organisers like a backpack.

Speaking to The Argus, the 26-year-old DJ said that it was “really good” to be back in the city.

“We’ve got more sound, the weather is nice, it’s great,” Dom said.

His route around the city set off from The Level towards Preston Park, before heading through the centre of town and along the seafront, ending near the Hove beach huts.

Cars and buses were caught in traffic as bikes flooded onto the roads to follow Dom and the music.

Earlier this year, Dom also performed sets in Berlin, Birmingham, Southampton, Bristol, Swansea and Brussels.
