OVER the course of the last few days my wife and I enjoyed a visit to your beautiful county using the opportunity after many years to meet up with family and visit some of your lovely gardens.
Sadly, our enjoyment was spoilt by the appalling condition of the local roads.
We have driven in many counties throughout the UK but we both shocked at the standard of many of the road surfaces throughout East Sussex and both concluded these were some of the worst we have ever driven on.
Numerous potholes and poorly laid tarmac surfaces made driving very difficult. Because many of the roads we had to use were narrow and bendy it was invariably impossible to avoid the worst surfaces.
The problem was exacerbated due to heavy rain on one day because it was impossible to determine just how deep some of these potholes actually were, thus increasing our concerns about the risk of causing serious damage to both tyres and suspension.
Sadly, our experience will definitely make us think twice about scheduling another visit to the area in the near future.
