THE DUKE and Duchess of Sussex have made an impromptu ‘appearance’ at a village pond.
Masks of the royal couple were spotted on an island in the centre of a pond in Rottingdean.
The pair appeared overnight and it is not clear how they got there or who was responsible for the ‘royal visit’.
A cut-out of Prince Andrew was also spotted up to his neck in water after not making it to the island.
Their appearance comes less than a week before Sussex celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with Rottingdean preparing a range of events to mark the occasion.
The nearby Saltdean Lido is preparing three days of community events and activities, with live music, a family fun day, and a royal-themed fancy dress parade and competition.
However, residents will not be able to enjoy the lighting of a coastal beacon on Beacon Hill, after plans were abandoned following concerns about the safety of skylarks in the area.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to join the Queen and the rest of the Royal Family at a service at St Paul's Cathedral next Friday, but will not appear alongside her on the Buckingham Palace balcony after the Trooping the Colour event.
