THE Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is fast approaching, with celebrations happening across Sussex over the four day weekend.
As Her Majesty will be marking 70 years on the throne, people in West Sussex will be hosting picnics, fun days and a whole host of events.
The Argus has compiled a list of the best events happening over the weekend:
Bentswood Jubilee Fun Day at Barn Cottage Recreation Ground, Barn Cottage Lane, Haywards Heath
June 3, 2022 from 3pm to 9pm
Between 3pm – 6pm we will have your own picnic, Punch and Judy show, Magic, Animazing, and a range of stalls and activities to keep the kiddies entertained. From 6pm we will have live music, a bar and bbq.
Kangaroos Jubilee Picnic in the Park at Worlds End Park, Janes Lane, Burgess Hill

Kangaroos Mid Sussex is a charity which supports children and adults with learning disabilities and their families.
The Picnic in the Park will enable members and their families to come together and celebrate the Platinum Jubilee with the community. We will have a fancy dress competition, children’s entertainment, music and balloon modelling.
The event is open if you, your child or family member of any age has a learning disability.
The Lord Chamberlain’s Men ‘As You Like It’ at Burgess Hill Girls School

The Lord Chamberlain’s Men – with a history stretching back to William Shakespeare himself – invite you to join them this summer for the sparkling comedy, As You Like It. One of the UK’s finest touring theatre companies present this great play as Shakespeare first saw it performed – in the open air, by an all male cast and with Elizabethan costumes, music and dance.

Bognor Regis Town Council will be lighting the seafront Beacon Brazier as part of the National Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacons.
Service of Thanksgiving to Celebrate the Platinum Jubilee at Chichester Cathedral
June 4, 2022 at 2.30pm
A special celebratory service to mark the occasion will be held in the Cathedral on Saturday. The service will feature music from the Cathedral Choir and a sermon from The Bishop of Chichester, The Right Reverend Dr Martin Warner.
A special drinks reception in the Cathedral Nave will follow the service.
Online booking is essential to attend this service.
Those attending are asked to be seated no later than 2.15pm.
Queen's Anniversary Walk from The Plough, Ifield

There will be a Queen's Anniversary Walk at 11am 'In Celebration of History', followed by 'Ifest' in the Village Green at 2pm.
Beacon lighting and fireworks at Victoria Park, Haywards Heath
June 2, 2022 at 9.30pm
"Our Beacon Event will start at 9.30pm in line with the Pagentmaster’s guidelines and at 9.45pm we will join with thousands of communities across the UK and Commonwealth members in celebrating the Queen’s 70 years as our Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth.
"Please join us for this beacon lighting which will finish with a fantastic firework display at 10pm!"
