THE Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is fast approaching, with dozens of celebrations happening across Sussex over the four day weekend.
As Her Majesty will be marking 70 years on the throne, people in East Sussex will be hosting fireworks, fun days and a whole host of events.
The Argus has compiled a list of the best events happening over the long weekend:
Jubilee Flower Festival at St Wulfren's Church, Ovingdean
June 2, 2022
This will provide an opportunity for all our local groups to display their creations to celebrate this historic milestone.
Deans Place Jubilee Jazz Lunch on the Lawn at Deans Place Hotel, Alfriston
June 4, 2022
Lunch on the lawn with Live Jazz from Rod Pooley and his band.
Enjoy a glass of fizz on arrival, canapés and a wonderful lunch served on the front lawn as the hotel staff, along with our resident Toastmaster Paul, toast our longest reigning Monarch for such loyal service.
This exclusive event will only be available with booking in advance.

Lighting of the Beacon Ceremony The Shoal at Splash Point, Esplanade, Seaford
June 2, 2022
Seaford’s beacon will be placed near The Shoal at Splash Point allowing the local communities, individuals and organisations to come together and pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth and will be lit in unison at 9.45 pm by Seaford Bonfire Society.
Photographic Exhibition of Royal Visits, Local Celebrations and Street Parties at Newhaven Museum

To celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee, Newhaven Museum will be displaying photographs of royal visits to Newhaven, alongside those of local celebrations and street parties from past jubilees.
There will also be a display of royal souvenirs donated or loaned to the museum by local residents. Younger visitors will be able to try their hand at free jubilee-inspired crafts.
The museum will be open from 11am to 4pm on June 3 and entry is free.
The event will be launched by the Town Crier who will deliver the Platinum Jubilee Cry at 11am.
Lewes Platinum Jubilee Event at Malling Brooks
June 2, 2022
In Lewes celebrations will begin on the evening of Thursday, June 2.
Lewes will be part of the national beacon chain with its own beacon on the hills above Malling Down, Lewes.
On Saturday, June 4 the main event in Lewes will start at midday on the Malling Brooks field following on from the Lewes Farmers Market in the morning.
There will be fun and entertainment for the young and old, with fairground rides, stalls and we are hoping for arena displays.
The Lewes, Glynde and Beddingham Brass Band are booked to play in the afternoon when afternoon teas will also be available.
Further entertainment will be provided on stage with live band music throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
At around 10pm the music will pause, and the Town will witness a huge aerial firework display which will be launched from the hills above Lewes.
Driftwood Gardens Platinum Jubilee Opening in Seaford
June 4, 2022 at 5.30pm
The gardens will be open over the Jubilee Weekend for people to come and enjoy delicious home-made cakes served on vintage china in the garden.
"We've Jubilee bunting and flags great Jubilee cake toppers and a life-size cut out of The Queen for selfie pictures!"
All monies raised from visits goes to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Tickets are £10 for a soft drink and a bowl of nibbles, or £12 for large glass of wine and nibbles or tray of tea and cake.
