THE places in Sussex where residents get the most in return for their council tax have been revealed.
Services analysed included fire service response time, the percentage of household waste recycled, the percentage of roads that need repair, the crime rate per 10,000 people and the percentage of schools and care homes rated good or outstanding.
The research by Money.co.uk found the council tax from people in Wealden goes further than anywhere else in the county. The area scored highly for the lowest crime rate in the Sussex. Some 91 per cent of its schools and 85 per cent of care homes are highly rated.
Horsham placed second with the best household waste management in the county, with Rother third, despite mediocre road conditions.

However, councils across Sussex underperformed when compared with the rest of England.
Wandsworth topped the list. Five of the top ten English districts were in Greater London and three in Greater Manchester.
Brighton and Hove was ranked among the worst in Sussex for council tax value, with the worst per centage of recycled household waste anywhere in the county.
Worthing placed last in Sussex, with an average fire service response time of more than nine minutes.
