A PETITION calling for Katie Price to be banned from owning dogs has topped 20,000 signatures.
The petition, which was started last year, has seen a sudden influx of backers since the former glamour model was pictured with a new puppy, Captain.
The 44-year old shared a picture of herself on Instagram holding the new dog, which was immediately met with scepticism from the public.
In 2020, Katie’s alsatian Sparkle was reportedly hit by a car and killed. Last year, a carer for Katie’s son Harvey reportedly found another family pet - a French bulldog named Precious - dead after it had got stuck under an armchair.
Following Precious's death, the petition was launched by a concerned member of the public.
The petition says: “A puppy has died in the last 24 hours in Katie Price's care. She bought this puppy for her 13-year-old child three weeks ago.
“In the last five years, more animals have died from lack of care – horses, dogs, cats, lizards, hedgehogs. This isn't a single family tragedy. It's a common thing in Katie Price’s home.”
Brighton-born Katie has also previously received a backlash from an animal charity.
"Given her track record with animals, several of whom have died in her care, it would be irresponsible and reckless for Katie to be allowed to acquire another one,” she told The Sun.
"And any breeder willing to sell to her is clearly putting profit over the animals' welfare."
A Katie Price representative said: "Kate can do no right in some people's eyes. Kate has always been an avid pet lover and as we've mentioned before, Kate would welcome a conversation with PETA organisational director, Elisa Allen, but Elisa has yet to get in touch."
