A HOLLYWOOD star has taken a subtle dig at the Royal Family following a surprise encounter with the Duke of Sussex.

Actress Rebel Wilson posted a photo on Instagram alongside Prince Harry with the caption “Team Harry”.

The duke met the Australian film star at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club in California.

The encounter comes after Ms Wilson, known for her roles in Pitch Perfect and Bridesmaids, poked fun at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ahead of hosting the BAFTAs in March.

She took a swipe at their move to the US, while chatting with This Morning host Alison Hammond.

After a clip was played from West Side Story in which it says, “I like to be in America, OK by me in America”, Ms Wilson joked: “That’s Harry and Meghan's new theme song."

She also took a sly dig at them again when hosting the awards, saying: "From drama to horror, to fantasy - Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah had it all."

Fans who spotted her latest Instagram photo with Prince Harry were thrilled with her royal encounter.

"So much royalty in one pic," one person commented.

"Great team," another said.

In 2020, Ms Wilson made jokes about the Royal Family at the BAFTAs, where she opened up her presentation for the award for best director by saying: “It’s really great to be here at the Royal Andrew, Royal Harry, Royal Philip, Royal palace place.”

Last month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed the details about their secret catch-up with the Queen.

They visited the Queen and met the Prince of Wales in Windsor, having flown from their home in the US before going on to The Hague in The Netherlands for the Invictus Games.

It is the first time the couple had been seen together publicly on this side of the Atlantic for two years.

Prince Harry was asked: “On the way here you popped in to see Her Majesty the Queen. Did she have any nice messages for Team UK?”

Harry replied: “She had plenty of messages for Team UK which I’ve already passed on to most of them. It was great to see her and I’m sure she would love to be here if she could.”
