ONE of nine low-flying military helicopters due to take flight over the county this week has been spotted.

The drills are part of a series of military training exercises, which began on Sunday.

The night-time flights will pass over East and West Sussex as well as Kent, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The Ministry of Defence said each exercise involved nine rotary aircrafts.

Members of the public have pictured the helicopters flying over Brighton and Hove.

The exercises are being conducted between 8am and 1am, while the drills on Friday are planned for 8am to 1pm.

The day-time low-flying training will affect East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey, Kent and the Isle of Wight.

In March this year, an Airbus A400 aircraft circled over Sussex after taking off from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire. The RAF said crews were completing routine training.

The aircraft, which measures more than 45 metres in length, passed low over Brighton City Airport in Shoreham, and above the streets of Brighton and Hove.
