A GORGEOUS baby emu has hatched at an adventure park after three months inside its egg.
Knockhatch Adventure Park in Hailsham, East Sussex, welcomed the chick on May 7 – the first newborn emu at the park since 2018.
The bird, whose species are native to Australia, is said to be exploring its new home eagerly.
Ben Anderson, zoo manager, said: “It is really rather cute to watch as it is so small.
“The father has been roosting for three months on the clutch of eggs; the baby emu is already exploring its surroundings unaided and will only take six months to fully grow to a height of two metres tall.”
Knockhatch is an outdoor and indoor adventure experience for youngsters, with a children’s farm and owl sanctuary on site.
