NICK Cave has announced that his son Jethro Lazenby has died.
In a statement, the singer said: “With much sadness, I can confirm that my son, Jethro, has passed away.
“We would be grateful for family privacy at this time.”
The 31-year-old, whose mother is model Beau Lazenby, lived in Melbourne.
It is the second tragedy to strike the musician’s family, after the death of his son Arthur Cave.
The 15-year-old suffered fatal injuries after plunging from the cliffs at Ovingdean.
He was found on the underpass of Ovingdean Gap in July 2015.
Members of the public tried to resuscitate him after he was found without any shoes or socks, but he died later at Royal Sussex County Hospital.
Veronica Hamilton-Deeley, senior coroner for Brighton, recorded a conclusion of accidental death.
Nick and his wife Susie, who lived in Brighton for many years, moved to LA in November last year after the city became “too sad” following Arthur’s death.
Writing about the song Heath that Kills on his website Red Hand Files, Nick said: “The words of the song go someway toward articulating why Susie and I moved from Brighton to L.A.
“Brighton had just become too sad. We did, however, return once we realised that, regardless of where we lived, we just took our sadness with us.
“These days, though, we spend much of our time in London, in a tiny, secret, pink house, where we are mostly happy.”
