A MAN who assaulted a woman and damaged her mobile phone has been given a 12-month conditional discharge.
Brett Ozzy Atkins, 35, was also ordered to pay more than £300 after assaulting Sophie Hazelden by beating her, contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988, at Hastings on November 1, 2020.
Hastings magistrates were told that Atkins, of Eastview Terrace, Sedlescombe, Battle, damaged her mobile phone on the same day.
Atkins had originally pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault by beating but changed his plea to guilty. He pleaded guilty to the charge of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.
He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £300 and costs of £22.
