A 42-YEAR-OLD man has died after falling from a cliff.
Emergency services were called to the Beachy Head cliffs in Eastbourne on Tuesday, May 3.
Police said they were called over concerns for the welfare of a man at 9.15pm.
“Sadly, a man aged 42 has died,” a police spokesman said.
His next of kin have been informed.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner,” the police spokesman added.
The RNLI Eastbourne said a volunteer crew were paged at about 11.50pm.
They were requested to launch their inshore lifeboat and tasked to assist police and local coastguards with the incident to the east of the Belle Tout Lighthouse.
“There will be no further details due to the sensitive nature of the call,” a RNLI spokesman said.
On Sunday, May 1, the body of a missing woman was found at the base of the cliffs at Beachy Head.
Police were called as part of a search for a missing woman who had travelled to Sussex from another part of the country.
Police said the coastguard conducted a search of the area on Sunday, May 1, and located the body of a woman.
“There are no suspicious circumstances,” a police spokesman said.
Her next of kin have been informed.
