A CAR was seized by police after a motorist was caught driving without a licence.

Police stopped the car in Seaford on Saturday, April 30, after it was flagged for having no insurance.

Following a conversation with the driver of the vehicle, officers discovered the driver also did not have a licence.

The car was seized by police and the driver will be summonsed to court.

A Lewes Police spokeswoman said: “Officers from your Neighbourhood Policing Team spotted this car being driven in Seaford.

“It flashed up as having no insurance, so we stopped it to have a chat with the driver. Turns out not only did he not have insurance, he also didn't have a licence.

“Car seized and driver will be summonsed to court.”

The car was pulled over as part of Operation Downsway.

Last week, a motorist was arrested for driving while drunk and high on cocaine with a child in the car.

Police stopped a vehicle in Preston Street, Brighton, on Wednesday due to it showing no insurance or tax as part of Operation Downsway.

Once the vehicle had been pulled over, the driver blew twice the drink drive limit and tested positive for cocaine during roadside tests.

The driver was also transporting their young child at the time, police said.

“The driver was arrested, and the child has been safeguarded,” Police Constable Gray said.
