AN 18-YEAR-OLD woman killed in a fatal crash in a car park has been remembered as “the most loveliest girl ever” by her friend.
Leonie Jones died in a car park in the Dormans in the Gossops Green area of Crawley in the early hours of Monday, April 25.
Police said the incident appeared to have involved a car and a pedestrian, and an 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a heartfelt tribute, Aaisha Abou-el-abbes called for “justice” for her close friend Leonie.
“Leonie was the most loveliest girl ever and is loved by many people,” she said.
“Leonie was always smiling and always happy. Her life should have never ended like this. Justice needs to be done.
“No mother in this world should have to endure so much pain losing their daughter at such a young age.
“Leonie was a strong girl but sadly, she was taken from us far too soon. We love you Leonie. Forever and always.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up in memory of Leonie, and will raise funds towards her funeral and support for her family.
To date, the fundraiser has raised almost £7,000.
Aaisha added: “Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to bring back our beautiful girl. But we, as her friends and family, want to help take away a bit of financial pressure for her funeral and any other way we can help support her family.
“We would all like to raise some money for the funeral and support her lovely family. As we all know, she has a lot of people who love her.”
Two men from Crawley, aged 21 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink and driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol and drugs.
The 20-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug.
Both men have been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
Handwritten tributes and flowers have also been left at the scene of the incident.
Police are appealing for witnesses and footage following the fatal crash.
Officers investigating have asked for the occupants of a second vehicle in the car park at the time to come forward.
Anyone who witnessed what happened or who has footage of vehicles in the area is asked to call 101 or email: collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk and quote serial 108 of 25/04.
