PART of the A23 is closed after a sewage tanker lost a wheel and overturned.
The incident happened around 10.35am this morning southbound on the A23 at Bolney.
There is currently around one mile of queuing traffic with a diversion now in place on the A272 Cowfold Road via the roundabout.
The road closure is expected to last for around two hours according to one police officer.
Pictures from the scene show fire crews, ambulance and police in attendance.
The lorry's back left wheel has come off, while the cab appears to have been bent from the impact of landing on its side.
It is currently unclear the extent of the driver’s injuries.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Just after 10.35am police responded to report of an overturned sewage lorry southbound on the A23 near Bolney.
"The southbound carriageway is closed while emergency services attend the scene and is likely to remain closed for at least a couple of hours.
"A further update will be provided in due course."
