A CARE home has teamed up with a primary school to launch a new pen pal scheme, connecting residents with pupils.
Lydfords Care Home in East Hoathly, Wealden, have come together with East Hoathly CofE Primary School for the inter-generational scheme, which will give residents the chance to share their stories.
Residents of Lydfords, which is run by Barchester Healthcare, have been writing to year three and four pupils and making new friends.
Letter writing, which is part of the school’s creative writing curriculum, has covered topics such as hobbies, pets and advice from both the students and the residents of Lydfords.
Residents were able to share their interesting tales of the past as well as sharing details of their lives now.
Brendan Caffrey, General Manager of Lydfords Care Home said: “Residents have really enjoyed sharing their stories with the young pupils; so many have incredible tales and they love hearing the adventures of the students, we look forward to inviting the children to Lydfords to visit in person soon.”
Lydfords care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals. Lydfords provides residential care for 36 residents from respite care to long term stays.
