A CHARITY auction has raised thousands of pounds for a children’s hospice.
Following its 11th annual fundraising auction for the Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice, Shoreham Vehicle Auctions (SVA) has raised over £48,000 for the charity.
The auctions were held over the week starting March 14 and saw multiple car dealers across the south coast come together in support of the fundraising, by donating part exchange cars as well as making pledges to support families using the hospice’s facilities.
With a giant teddy donated by Frosts4Cars, raising £600 and a 2004 VW Golf S sold for £1,500 donated by Yeomans Group the auction was off to a good start.
Caffyns donated a Playmobil VW Campervan that was auctioned and sold for £100, after it was re-auctioned by the buyer another 3 times, a total of £300 was donated to the hospice.
Two Barkers of Kensington watches were also donated raising a total of £1,125.
In total, since 2011, SVA’s fundraising efforts have generated an incredible £230,000 for the Chestnut Tree House.
Catherine Stone, SVA’s business development manager said: “This year particularly has blown me away; the warmth and generosity of the motor trade has been overwhelming.
“The auction was a huge success and the most money we have raised in a single year, which is astonishing with what’s going on in the world.
“A big thank you from all of us at Shoreham Vehicle Auctions.”
Chestnut Tree House currently cares for around 300 children and young adults with life limiting conditions and provides services including hydrotherapy and multi-sensory activities.
With over £10,000 daily running costs, it relies on public donations and events, meaning the funds raised by SVA are vital.
After over a decade of support for the hospice, Alex Wright, SVA’s managing director has now become an official patron of the children’s hospice.
He said: “The final funds raised at our 11th auction was £48,075.00 which is phenomenal.
“Everyone at Shoreham is immensely proud to have generated this sum of money for Chestnut Tree House Children’s hospice and we look forward to continuing support for this amazing charity.”
