A MAN has been charged after a woman was raped and assaulted in broad daylight.
Brandon Woolven from Brighton has been charged with rape, three counts of sexual assault and two counts of assault occasioning to actual bodily harm following the incident.
The 22-year-old, of no fixed address, was due to appear before Sheffield Magistrates Court today.
Police were called at around 10am on Thursday to a reported rape in Barnsley.
A woman in her twenties was walking through parkland off Pontefract Road, when she was pulled into a narrow pathway and assaulted near to the Beevor Street Industrial Estate.
Specially trained officers are supporting the woman.
Anyone with information or footage which may assist police with their enquiries is asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 279 of 14 April.
