A GARDEN centre is combating the cost of living crisis by starting an “inflation-busting deals” scheme.
Up Country garden centre has slashed prices on a variety of products, as well as in its in-house café.
Deals include price reductions on bedding plants, weed killers and watering cans until June this year.
The garden centre, which has two shops in Scaynes Hill near Haywards Heath and Stone Cross near Polegate, wants to “reassure” customers during a time of “financial uncertainty”.
It is also holding a special event where people can buy one plant for half price between April 19 and April 30. The offer requires a voucher which can be found on the garden centre’s website and joining the centre’s loyalty scheme.
Megan Kidger, marketing manager at Up Country, said: “It’s fair to say the recent surge in inflation has been a bit of a shock for people across the country, first the rise in energy and house prices and more recently the eruption of petrol prices.
“After dealing with Covid the last two years, we now face yet further tough times with this current financial uncertainty. We wanted to reassure our customers that we’re doing everything in our power to support them through this time.
“With lots of other companies raising their product prices to catch up with this rise, we’ve tried to avoid this where possible.
"In March, we launched our ‘inflation busting deals’ campaign designed to keep people gardening from now until summer.
“We’ve also hand selected a variety of our most popular products and either slashed the price or frozen the price to ensure you can continue improving your garden at an affordable price.
“Customers can enjoy a wide variety of bedding plants and pot bedding including geraniums for only £2.49, some of our solar lighting has also been reduced like our Cygnus Solar Stake Light 5l which has gone from £5.99 to £3.99.
“We’ve also created our ‘budget breakfast’, at our in house cafe The Bakehouse Kitch, where you can enjoy a full English or veggie breakfast for a whopping £3.99.”
