POLICE were forced to issue a dispersal order in a town centre after significant levels of antisocial behaviour.
The Section 34 Dispersal Order was put in place in Worthing town centre on Wednesday, April 13.
A Dispersal Order gives police the power to ask a group of two or more people to leave the area if they are doing anything wrong, or if they believe that they may or are likely to cause a nuisance to someone else.
The order will remain in place in Worthing until 3.49pm on Friday, April 15.
Am Adur and Worthing Police spokesman said: “As a result of significant antisocial behaviour in Worthing town centre, a section 34 dispersal order in now in place from today (Wednesday 13 April) until 3:49pm on Friday 15 April.
“This power allows us to order people to leave a designated area for a set period of time due to their behaviour.
“The dispersal order will be operating in the area outlined in the image.”
Police released a map showing the area in which the Dispersal Order is in place, which includes the town centre, the beach, the pier and more.
Last month, police issued a Dispersal Order in Shoreham after officers responded to reports of criminal damage and arson in the area.
