OVERRUNNING engineering works has caused railway delays.
Trans between Uckfield/East Grinstead and East Croydon are disrupted due to the overrunning works on Thursday morning.
At 5.33am, Southern Rail said engineering work taking place in the Oxted area had overrun, which is preventing trains from running on all lines to and from Uckfield/East Grinstead.
Customers are able to use their tickets to complete their journeys on Southern and Thameslink on “any reasonable route”, as well as Southeastern trains between Tunbridge Wells and London Bridge.
Train users will also be able to use the London Underground on any reasonable route, Brighton and Hove buses routes 28 and 29 between Uckfield, Crowborough, Lewes and Tunbridge Wells and the Metrobus between East Grinstead, Three Bridges and Gatwick Airport.
The public are also encouraged to check for service cancellations, engineering works and other possible disruptions before travelling.
“Please check your journey before you travel, and allow for extra time to reach your destination if you are using alternative travel,” a Southern Rail spokeswoman said.
“You may need to make use of an alternative route to reach your destination.
“Journey planners are being updated in real time on the National Rail website.”
