A POLICE cordon is being removed after a bomb squad was called to reports of a “suspected unexploded grenade” in a town centre.
Police were called to a garden in Langney Road in Eastbourne at 1.20pm this afternoon and advised local residents to stay away from the area while officers assessed the situation.
Pictures from the scene showed several police officers and vehicles along the road dealing with the incident.
An explosive ordnance disposal team attended the scene and determined that the grenade was not live.
A police spokeswoman confirmed that residents can now return to the area.
